With over 475 DJ’s and acts confirmed, most of this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event night program is completed. Buma Cultuur, the organisation behind ADE, expects 55.000 visitors of which at least 20.000 international visitors and 1800 professional participants to the conference. The world’s biggest club festival is held 19-21 October 2006 in Amsterdam and features a special opening: a tribute to synth pioneer Bob Moog.

ADE 2006 features a special program on Wednesday 18 October (one day before the conference starts) to commemorate synth pioneer Bob Moog, who passed away last year. Since his passing, artists from around the world joined forces to make a tribute CD with exclusive tracks dedicated to his pioneering work. An initiative of the ADE, Crème Organization & the Immaculate Conceptualists, the CD will be presented with a release party features live performances (expect lots of Moog - gear) by many of the featured artists. On October 21st, Paradiso will host a Magik Muzik Night featuring a 5 hours set of Tiësto especially for the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). The list with the announcement of Tiësto’s performance during this Magik Muzik Night in Paradiso is complete. With the support of Progression as warm up and Cosmic Gate, Ton T.B. and Phynn in the other room this special night promises to be one of the places to be during the ADE.

The Remote – Too Low to Miss

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

Too Low to MissI never heard of this new Global Underground release, never saw it on any other site and I just bumped accross it today on Global Underground’s website. Here’s some more information for you readers!

When Ashley Casselle spotted his then girlfriend chatting to a peroxided spikey haired youth with makeup which reminded him of Daryl Hannah playing the replicant in Bladerunner, he moved away from his spot in the DJ booth at London’s Heaven nightclub and asked her who the ‘weird looking guy’ was. A brief introduction followed and the curiously named Ben Lost chatted about his job at a music distribution company and a passion for David Bowie, electronic music, Guns ‘n Roses and Brian Eno. “We exchanged details and then a week later, to my surprise, I started receiving everything from weird drum ‘n bass to thrash metal from him. He told me he’d been the singer in a band called Charlie when he was 14 and that he’d like a shot at performing on my Ashtrax project,” says Casselle. The year was 2000 and Ashley was taking his DJing out of London and onto an international circuit, playing festivals in Japan, terraces in Ibiza and hot nightclubs all over the world while he honed his DJ skills and experimented with the ever expanding sounds of dub house, breakbeats, indie and electro. This in turn fed and influenced an array of productions and remixes which he developed with Ashtrax partner James Christopher (JC), a microchip whizzkid and studio pro fresh off the train from Sheffield raised on a diet of Aphex Twin and film soundtracks.

At the time they were working on a track set for release on London imprint Deviant records after single releases ‘Kafka’ and ‘Helsinki’ were met with widespread approval. ‘You look so digital’ sang Ben mysteriously on the haunting result, ‘Digital Reason’, a blend of deep suburban bass and frosty electronics with snappy beats. Ben Lost sounded classic yet modern, a bizarrely poppy but intoxicating voice “like the Buzzcock’s Pete Shelley meeting David Bowie on a robot farm” says Ashley.

Fuck Me I’m Famous - International

Friday, June 16th, 2006

F*** Me I'm Famous - InternationalDavid Guetta presents another international mix, across 2 CDs from one of the worlds most decadent and fabulous parties. With a launch party @ Café de Paris in London, 4 exclusive parties in Ibiza, and numerous parties across Italy, the rest of Europe and America, this edition is truly international.

Having sold over a million records in Europe and France alone, Guetta scored a massive hit in the UK with ‘Just A Little More Love,’ then took clubs world-wide by storm with ‘The World Is Mine.’ But there’s one key phrase that sums up David and his glittering Fuck Me I’m Famous brand – and that’s Guetta fabulous. If you’ll excuse the pun of course. The perfect fusion of David’s passion for music and Cathy Guetta’s glamorous friends meeting cool and passionate clubbers help make every guest and every party feel utterly unique. There’s always a show in the DJ booth and further spectacles to be taken in on the dance floor.
