South West Four Launch
Wednesday, April 19th, 2006It was one of the biggest success stories of last year, and for 2006 looks likely to be the best dance music event during the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
South West Four festival, organised in conjunction with Metro newspaper, had a successful launch on Saturday 15 April 2005 with 4000 clubbers packing into Brixton Academy to see Carl Cox and Mr. C tear it up.
This year the South West Four festival features Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, James Zabiela, Sander Kleinenberg, and Desyn Masiello alongside its DJ ambassador Carl Cox on the 10,000 capacity outdoor main stage.
BBC Radio 1 stalwart Pete Tong will join the likes of Seb Fontaine, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, and Nic Fancuilli in a second arena, whilst trancers Judge Jules, Mauro Picotto, Fergie, Ian Betts, Sander Van Doorn and Matt Hardwick will DJ in a third tent.
It’s very easy to think that England and America are the only places in the world where amazing parties take place. Despite the fact these two countries provided the formative foundations of dance music as we know it today, they are now constantly being challenged by new kids on the block; new countries who are discovering dance music, grabbing it by the scruff of the neck and embracing it wholeheartedly. With this comes new talent; fresh producers and DJs who are being thrust onto the world stage and given the exposure they so richly deserve. One such success story is South America’s Hernan Cattaneo.
The first Alex M.O.R.P.H. solo artist album will be released on May 26 2006. This upcoming release will come in two editions; a standard edition which will consist of a double-cd and a limited edition.
With dance music currently overwhelmed by house music, there is extremely good news for the trance scene. Binary Finary return with their long awaited artist album The Lost Tracks.
With a number 3 position in the international DJ MAG Top 100 Armin van Buuren can be seen as one of the most successful DJs in the world. Armin received the ‘Best Album’ award during the Dutch dance release awards for his latest artist album ‘Shivers’ and with this album he recently got nominated for a prestigious Edison Award in the category Dance.
A new series of a Global Underground compilation is scheduled to be released on 15 June 2006. This new release comes in luxurious digi-pack packaging with bold red artwork. The pack is gloss laminated and contains a deluxe 20 page colour booklet with photography from exotic locations from around the world, plus liner notes by Heat magazine / The Independent newspaper journalist Dom Phillips.
